Kelle Brooks is a licensed architect and has practiced between the fields of art, architecture and landscape architecture, emphasizing the integration of the natural and built environments with focus on the relationship between aesthetics and sustainable design. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon. Brooks has taught design studios at The University of Arizona, Carnegie Mellon University, and is coordinator of the 2nd year design studio sequence at Cal Poly Dept. of Architecture.
Brooks is developing a new community design based service-learning course in the architecture department. The course will introduce principles of community design and provide opportunities to collaborate directly with community organizations and implement their goals through research, design and construction. This class will connect to ARCH 479 design build, giving students the opportunity to deepen their learning by applying their design and construction skills to benefit a community organization in a two course sequence. |
